The man behind the name
Paul was the person you could call when you needed a hand. He would set aside what he was doing to help family, friends, or a complete stranger, without expecting anything in return.
A Binghamton native and Navy veteran, Paul was an excellent tradesman, especially as a painter, and remarkably talented with his hands. He could take on almost any task. He owned Oceans End Painting, LLC and helped build KPS from its beginning, serving as Director of Field Operations. But what people remember most is how he made them feel: cared for, less alone, and often laughing at one of his lighthearted jokes.
Paul would do physical work, run errands, or buy someone something they needed, rarely accepting money in return. Even when he had little himself, he sometimes gave his last few dollars to a friend or stranger and went without. He rarely asked for help, but readily offered it.
Paul was a warm, sensitive, loving man. His laugh was contagious, and his presence had a way of warming your heart. He loved fishing, motorcycles, cars, animals, and the outdoors. He showed up for others with a smile and a willingness to help. His kindness is what this fund carries forward.
Paul passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2026, at age 57. His kindness and willingness to help remain at the heart of how his family and all who knew him remember Paul.
Part of KPS. From the beginning.
Paul was part of KPS from the very beginning. He brought the same qualities to the team that made him so loved: skill with his hands, a generous heart, and a readiness to help.
We honor Paul as a Founding Team Member and Director of Field Operations, In Memoriam. This lasting recognition celebrates his place in the company’s story and the person behind the work.
His kindness, dedication, and care for others remain part of what KPS stands for. Paul will always have a place in the KPS family and in the hearts of those who love him.
Forever part of the KPS family.
Forever in our hearts.
“He would drop anything to help anyone, at any time.”
Why the fund began
The Paul Kocak Memorial Fund began with proceeds from Paul’s estate. His family unanimously chose to accept none of that money for themselves. Rather than divide it among family members, they dedicated it to honoring his life and continuing what he did so freely: helping others.
The fund is being developed to provide practical assistance to people facing hardship. It reflects a simple hope: that the care Paul gave can continue reaching others, with what he left behind helping someone through a difficult time.
For his family and the KPS team, this is a lasting way to remember him through kindness, service, and showing up for someone who needs a hand.
